Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Posting Awards on WordPress Blog


1. Preparation

  • Gather Information: Collect all necessary details about the award including the award logo, the press release, and any text that needs to be included in the blog post.

  • Stock Photography: Download or select a suitable generic stock image for the blog post’s featured image.

2. Update Portfolio Page

  • Access WordPress Dashboard:
    • Login to your WordPress site.
    • Go to the ‘Pages’ section.
  • Edit Portfolio Page:
    • Find the portfolio page that you need to update.
    • Add a new section or update an existing one with details about the award.
    • Ensure to mention the ‘Home’ indicated in the award.
    • Insert the award logo and a brief description.

3. Update Awards Page

  • Access Awards Page:
    • Go to the ‘Pages’ section in the WordPress dashboard.
    • Locate and edit the Awards page.
  • Add New Entry:
    • Insert the award details and hyperlink this entry to the corresponding blog post.

4. Update Awards Spreadsheet

  • Open Spreadsheet:

  • Add New Entry:
    • Enter the award details including the
      • Organization
      • Name of the Award
      • Year(s)
      • Homes
      • Company received
      • Order (if necessary)

5. Create Blog Post

  • Access WordPress Blog Section:
    • Go to the ‘Posts’ section in the WordPress dashboard.
  • Add New Post:
    • Title: Include the name of the award in the blog post title.
    • Content: Write a short and concise post about the award, pulling information from the provided press release. Ensure it’s engaging and fits the tone of your blog:
      • Mention why the award is important.
      • Include key details about the award.
      • Acknowledge any notable achievements or milestones that led to receiving the award.
      • Add the award logo and a brief statement from the press release at the end.
  • Featured Image:
    • Set the previously selected generic stock photo as the featured image.

6. Publish and Promote

  • Proofread:
    • Carefully review the blog post for accuracy and typos.
  • Publish Post:
    • Once satisfied, click ‘Publish’.
  • Share:

7. Confirmation

  • Double-check:
    • Verify that the portfolio page, awards page, and blog post are correctly updated and linked.
    • Ensure the awards spreadsheet reflects the new entry accurately.
